Previous alterations to this Glasgow tenement had reduced the original bay windowed living room to half the size it should have been, original plaster cornice was lost above lowered ceilings and layers of new wall partitions had reduced the width of a rear bedroom by over a foot.
Our plan was to strip away the additional layers and restore the original room proportions. In addition, some minor structural alterations allowed a compact kitchen to be inserted in the old bed recesses, opening up to the enlarged living room.
The transformations rebalanced the living / dining area to be in proportion with the tenement as a whole as well gaining much improved cooking facilities.
